THE MAJORITY OF PARENTS STRONGLY SUPPORT THE TEXAS A-F RATING SYSTEM.In August 2019, the Texas Education Association (TEA) issued letter grades for all Houston public schools for the first time. When introduced to the TEA A–F rating system, the majority of parents indicated strong support for this system because they believe it gives them an independent source of information to make the best decision for their child.

A-F RATINGS ARE A MEASURABLE WAY TO ASSESS QUALITY ACROSS SCHOOLS.Parents view the TEA A-F rating system as a tool that lets them evaluate the standings of their children's school and find other high-quality schools in the area. This resource provides parents with measurable standards of quality and accountability in public schools. Parents can visit txschools.gov to view individual school and district ratings, in addition to learning more about how each score is calculated.

MORE THAN HALF OF PARENTS BELIEVE ONLY AN A OR B RATING IS ACCEPTABLE.When asked which of the following ratings would you consider acceptable for your child’s school, 53% stated only an A or B would be acceptable, and an overwhelming majority (82%) would accept nothing less than a C for their child’s school.

THERE IS A STRONG INTEREST IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE A-F SYSTEM.There is a strong demand among parents to learn more about the rating system, regardless of the current district or type of school their child currently attends.
