Good Reason Houston cannot be successful if we do not partner with Houston’s parents to demand change. We have dedicated resources to empower and organize parents, expand the ability of school districts to engage directly with the parents they serve, and build a community coalition for change in Houston.
THE MAJORITY OF PARENTS CONSIDER ONLY "A OR B" SCHOOLS AND WOULD TAKE ACTION IF A SCHOOL FELL BELOW THEIR STANDARDS.53% of parents only consider an A or B rating acceptable for their child. When ratings are unacceptable, parents are moved to act on these ratings by meeting or becoming involved in parent organizations.

THE MAJORITY OF PARENTS WANT TO BE BETTER ADVOCATES FOR SCHOOL QUALITY.Most Houston parents are very interested in learning better ways to advocate for quality changes at their child's school. Charter school parents and Houston ISD parents have the strongest interest in learning these skills.

DESPITE THE DESIRE TO ACT, FEW PARENTS EXPRESS CONFIDENCE AND KNOW WHAT TO DO IF THEY HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT SCHOOL QUALITY.Only a third of Houston parents can say with complete assurance they know the right person to approach when they have concerns about the quality of their child's school. 36% say they are completely confident in voicing their school quality concerns.
