RESEARCH OBJECTIVESGood Reason Houston partnered with national experts, Wakefield Research Partners, to interview more than a thousand families across Houston to understand how families feel about the schools we have, what they want to see in our schools in the future, and how they see their role in driving change.
We are pleased to share our findings with others—city and district leaders, policy makers, education stakeholders, and the public. We hope this is just the beginning of a new city-wide conversation about what parents want and expect for their children and how we can ensure that our schools provide that for every family. |
KEY FINDINGS
From this research, five themes emerged:

|
Parents want more diverse public school options for their students.
|

ABOUT GOOD REASON HOUSTONGood Reason Houston is an education nonprofit on a mission to increase the number of students learning in great public schools. Our first step toward achieving that mission is to ensure that 60,000 more Houston students are learning in high-performing schools. As we began working with schools and districts to build this plan, we knew that families needed to be the loudest voices at the table where public education decisions are being made, which is why we partnered with Wakefield Research to conduct this research and ensure our strategies and solutions meet the needs of Houston families.
